WHat

Our January Fun Event is for teams of two either competing on MTB or fell running over the same area in two separate competitions.

Who

Teams of two people experienced in:

  •  Off-road cycling and navigation, with elements up to mountain-bike 'Red Run' level of difficulty in open moorland in bad weather.

 Or

  • Mountain/fell running and navigation of up to 3-4hrs (20-25 km) duration across high moorland in bad weather.

How

Teams plan their own route in order to visit Check Points and gain as many points as possible within the specified time;  there are penalty points for late finishes.  Check Points are worth different points depending on the level of difficulty.

The Route Book issued at the start, gives details of the Check Points which competitors will need to plot on their maps.

 The Route Book

There are three levels of Check Points with increasing value:

  • Level 1 - 'Open' - full details of the grid references and descriptions of the Check Points are given in the Route Book.

  • Level 2 - 'Concealed' - clues to the locations of these Check Points are given in the Route Book - you need to work them out.

  • Level 3 - 'Hidden' - you need to locate extra Route Book information out en route to 'unlock' Level 3 Check Points.
