WHY WE DO IT
Wild & Remote exists for people who want an active part in their adventure: navigating, making decisions and taking responsibility for themselves and their expedition partner.
We build journeys with a clear mission, demanding terrain and a small expedition community. You and your teammate travel independently, with professional planning and support around you.
The business has roots built from decades of expedition experience and a straightforward belief: shared effort, good judgement and looking after each other make an expedition worth remembering.

FOUNDED ON EXPEDITION EXPERIENCE
James Harris · Founder
Wild & Remote’s founder, James Harris, has led numerous expeditions world-wide notably, the British Army Antarctic Expedition in 2001–02, the British Army South Georgia expedition in 1991 and pioneering microlight flying expeditions to the high-north.
His wider expedition experience spans the Arctic, Canada, the USA and Europe. A mountaineer and explorer, he brings decades of experience travelling and leading teams in demanding environments.
Wild & Remote draws on that experience to create expeditions where participants make meaningful decisions, supported by careful preparation and people who understand the demands of the terrain.
Through years of expeditions, James has built a wide network of fellow explorers and specialists. That network allows WR to assemble a support team suited to each undertaking.
THE RIGHT PEOPLE FOR EACH EXPEDITION
Behind Wild & Remote is a wider network of explorers, mountaineers, ocean yacht-masters, experienced kayakers, qualified medics, mechanics and expedition logistics specialists.
We assemble the team for each expedition around its terrain, activities, remoteness and support requirements. Individual specialists join according to the skills needed and their availability.
Some contribute to planning and preparation; others work in the field, at checkpoints, in camp or behind the scenes. The mix changes with the expedition.
Participants are introduced to the appointed expedition team before departure, with clear information about responsibilities, support and communications.
